A customer's status: active, disabled, archived

A customer is a company whose jobs you distribute. It has one of three statuses, shown on the Customers list and at the top of its record, and nothing deletes a customer (specs/004 REQ-002). Enable, Disable and Archive… are in the menu on the customer's row on the Customers list.

Disabling or archiving a customer takes its jobs out of every publisher's feed at the next build. Clicks on those jobs keep earning for 24 hours after the build that dropped them, under the rules on click reasons, because publishers work from copies of their feed, with the two exceptions When a job goes away names (D-JL-02, D-JL-09).

active

The customer is running. Its feeds can be added, imported and refreshed, and its active campaigns send their jobs to publishers, unless redirection is stopped for the customer or a feed (Stopping redirection).

disabled

The customer is switched off (specs/004 REQ-005):

  • every running campaign is paused with the reason customer_disabled, and so is every campaign a budget had stopped (D-DIST-08);
  • its feeds cannot be added, imported or refreshed (D-DIST-09, D-LIFE-02);
  • no campaign can be activated.

Everything else still works: you can edit the customer and its campaigns, pause or archive a campaign, and archive or unarchive a feed (D-LIFE-02).

Enable makes it active again and imports work at once. Its campaigns stay paused until someone activates each one (D-LIFE-03). A feed with a refresh schedule that fell due while the customer was disabled is queued for one refresh (D-ING-13); a feed refreshed by hand is not. The record lists any feed that was unarchived and still waits for a Refresh (D-LIFE-33).

archived

The customer is retired. Archiving archives every one of its feeds and campaigns at once (D-DIST-06, specs/004 REQ-003), and Activity lists each one it touched. While a customer is archived, every change to it or to anything under it is refused except Unarchive and stopping or resuming redirection (specs/004 REQ-004, D-020-06).

Unarchive brings the customer back disabled, never active, and leaves its feeds and campaigns archived (D-DIST-07). Bring back the ones you want one by one.
